One in five New Zealanders is living with a disability. That means approximately 150,000 young people with disabilities are facing considerable barriers in their lives. StarJam believes this is something that can be changed. Through music and performance workshops, StarJam reaches many of these young New Zealanders and provides opportunities for them to explore their talents, gain new skills and build confidence to try new things. Over the years, StarJam’s impact on Jammers (our young people) and their families has been phenomenal – inspiring self-belief and a sense of belonging, often for the very first time, resulting in a new zest for life and hope for the future. For many, StarJam has been a life-transforming experience.

  Littlemore Trust #CC53675
t’s our vision to see communities where every newborn is set for life. That’s why we’re helping families share the joy of parenting. We’re doing this by helping Kiwis pass on their pre-loved baby clothes and other baby essentials to families with newborns in need in Auckland. This may seem such a small thing, but every little piece of baby clothing, bedding, carseats & more that you donate, really does make a huge difference. So if you’ve got some gear that you’re thinking of passing on, here’s a massive thanks in advance from the little ones you’ll be helping.

About WYS

Whangarei Youth Space opened in 2014 in response to a need identified by Whangarei young people, and the wider community, for a safe, welcoming youth-focused space in central Whangarei.  The aim was to provide a place of belonging, easy access to support, development opportunities, and youth-specific health services.

Today, WYS attracts around 5500 visits annually to our social space, and provides around 1600 health consultations. We attract a diverse range of young people, with rangatahi Māori making up over 80% of our users.

We work on a model of a youth / adult partnership which sees young people aged 18 to 24 take 50% of the trustee roles on our board.  We also have around 30 young people each year who are actively involved in WYS in leadership roles.
